Michael Brown was elected Mayor of the City of Concordia, Missouri in April 2016. Prior to his election as Mayor, he served on the Concordia City Council representing the city's 1st Ward from 2013 to 2016. The Mayor has proudly represented the City of Concordia in this area including the Whiteman Air Force Base Community Council and the Lafayette County Political Roundtable. As an active community volunteer, Mayor Brown also currently serves as the President of the Odessa Hills Campgrounds Governing Board near Odessa, Missouri.
Mayor Brown earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1995. He later furthered his education by working on his Masters of Arts in history with an emphasis in political science also at the University of Central Missouri while serving as a graduate assistant in the history department.
Mayor Brown has been a life-long educator teaching in the Missouri Public Schools for 32 years-the last 19 of which have been in the Concordia R-2 School District as an American History, World History and Government instructor.
Mayor Brown is a native of the Council Bluffs, Iowa area before moving to Missouri as a young child. He and his wife Alisa have been happily married for 19 years and have two wonderful children-Holly (age 14) and Aaron (age 12).
Mayor Brown is humbled of having been given the distinct honor of representing the City of Concordia as its mayor and grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of this community.
